Will you be my date this Valentine’s Day?

Darling,

This Valentine’s Day…

Sister Goddesses are rising.

The Pleasure Revolution is joining forces with Eve Ensler’s global activist movement, V-Day, for its 15th anniversary and most ambitious event to date. We will join one billion people as part of the world’s largest dance break in support of an end to violence against women.

Watch this quick video for all the details…

Right now, one of every three women on the planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. That’s ONE BILLION mothers, daughters, sisters, partners, and friends violated. I REFUSE to stand by as more than a billion women experience violence. If you’re a Sister Goddess in the NYC area, bring your friends and come join me at Grand Army Plaza this Thursday as we dance, shimmy, and shake the world into a new paradigm. Please RSVP here. If you live outside the NY area, you can join an existing event near you (or start your own) here.

In the comments below, tell me: what are you rising for this Valentine’s Day?

And if you want to inspire another woman to rise, please share this post.

With so much love and pleasure,
Mama Gena

P.S. Congratulations to the newly married Sister Goddess Ruth (a.k.a. Song Siren, our resident DJ) and her husband, Jeff! Remember Jeff, who rocked the house at our recent Men’s Panel at Intro Day?  If you missed my interview with him, you can listen in here.

The video with details of the NYC event won’t play. What time is it happening, for how long, and exactly where in Grand Army Plaza? Thanks.

I am rising for my younger self who got caught in several abusive relationships, because I grew up in a household run on abuse. I am rising for my sisters worldwide who did the same. I am rising to push the blame and shame away from me and my sisters, and to plant it squarely on the shoulders of the ones who did the abusing.

    Yahoo Regina!!!
I heard from one of the Manhattan SGs that you were doing this. We are rising here in Reno, also!!
Well said SG Glitzy. I am rising for every woman, everywhere, whom has ever been on the receiving end of sexual abuse and misogyny.
I am so grateful to Ben, for organizing and leading our local rising!
I am so grateful for Bonnie and Jennifer for doing the Vagina Monologues here.
I am beyond grateful to not only be able to tech for the VMs, but to have 4 lines!!! and what more perfect than that my first line is, “a tutu and see through black underwear.”!
Finally, and as always I am completely and totally in gratitude for My BSG daughter for all those years ago insisting I read the VMs, for performing in them herself for years so that I could both help and watch, for Eve Ensler for being the amazing force of nature that she is and for you- Regina- for continuing my education and healing.
    Rock on Sisters.
Congratulations SG Sexy Siren. Loved the interview!!

I am rising for the young woman in New Delhi who was so recently violently raped and killed. I am rising for the young woman in Ohio who was gang raped by the football team and it was tweeted and facebooked and laughed at by her peers. I am rising to make politicians aware that rape is never acceptable. I am rising for the women in the Congo and all over the world who are sexually tortured beyond belief. I am rising to stop rape as a recognized act of war.
And I am rising because as women here in the West, with SWA, we have been allowed to fall in love with that very essential part of our bodies that is the essence of woman. As we free ourselves and stand for ourselves, we help free other women by the very act. So I will dance with all the gorgeous fierceness in my body (and I brag there’s a LOT of that:)!
