This LA goddess arrived in New York City two years ago for a live dose of Mama and a desire for a red-hot romance. SG Monique had always been a seeker, perusing self-help titles, searching for a little “Je ne sais quoi.” She’d taken her first baby steps on the pleasure path through Mama’s books and was hungry for more.
SG Monique wanted to harness the power of pleasure in the arena of men, relationships, and sensuality. She desired a world-class love affair. It did not take long before she was “dating like a fiend, having a really fun time, flirting, and having a blast.” Like a true Sister Goddess, SG Monique first embraced the Womanly Art of Having Fun No Matter What.
At the onset of Mastery, SG Monique’s top desire was to live that legendary love affair, to meet her soul mate. Other desires included more pleasure at work (a hardworking lawyer, SG Monique was getting a little cranky with her job), and her dream car, a red Mini-Cooper. How’d she do? In her own words:
“I got the car within 2 weeks. I met my fiancé about a month after starting [the program] . . . and about 2 ½ months later he asked me to marry him. I had said within six months I want to be engaged. I met him and it was like, ‘He’s the one. I know it.’ And with the job, I ended up sucking in a 2-month paid leave of absence and then I went to Australia, France… I did a lot of soul searching and I came back and I quit . . . .
The thing with Mastery is you get to a point when you get so high and feel so good that anything that didn’t work with that just couldn’t exist in my life anymore. So I thought, ok, well. I don’t have anything else around, but I know something will come and I quit… I found a new wonderful job where I work much less and I get paid more and I really enjoy it…”
Don’t ‘ya just love a show-off?
So what is her secret?
Mama always says that pleasure is a discipline and SG Monique is a true pleasure warrior, wielding the Womanly Arts on a daily basis. Where does she get that stamina? From utter and complete commitment to her joy. “I would go through phases, for a couple of weeks, where I would stop bragging or stop spring cleaning and I would feel my happiness wane and I’d start to drag and feel it.”
In partying with her pleasure, SG Monique became transparent, particularly with men. “One of the very first homework assignments, one of the things [Mama] made me do when I first met [my fiancé] . . . I had a huge crush on him and she said, “That is your homework, to tell him you have a huge crush on him.” [I learned that] one of the main things is just being very open and honest about my feelings but in a way that is playful and in a way that is not angry.
"My problem was not really being angry at men, it was more, not telling them what I was feeling and I was hoping they would intuit, read my mind and figure out what I needed to be happy and that does not work for a lot of reasons. And so I learned to really speak my truth and be totally okay with where I am and how I’m feeling whether or not those feelings included being a little freaked out or scared . . . I became okay with my whole process and being able to share all of that . . . I think we have such intimacy and it’s very deep because I can share everything with him and I’ve learned that from Regena. ”
Sister Goddess Monique married her man, affectionately known as Steamy Aussie, shortly thereafter, in the shadow of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain.
Congratulations, Princess Magnifique!
