The Hallelujah Sister Goddess Great Mama Chorus

The topic of motherhood makes me sweat.
And twitch.
I feel way more navigational certainty about writing a book than I do about parenting-especially as a single Mom.
But something I have noticed, personally and globally, is this: worrying about parenting only makes your parenting worse.
Why?
Well, worrying, fretting, and doubting (our national hobby, as women) make everything worse.
So, my suggestion for Mother's Day:

Celebrate every teeny tiny deed that you do for yourself, and for your children.
Why?
Because anything that you celebrate flourishes. Including yourself.

Now, self-celebration is tricky, because for many of us, our own style of parenting is dramatically different from the way we were raised.
And when you are not sure you know the words and lyrics, it is difficult to sing your own praises.
This is your invitation to do it anyway.
Humming your own praises is a good start.
Let me show you how it's done.

Sister Revolutionary: Sheila Kelley

Sheila KelleyDarlings,

This woman brings me peace. I can breathe more easily on this earth because she is here. Why?

Because of her extraordinary love for women, and her willingness to jump, with abandon, into the creation of a frame from which a woman can continually source the best in herself.
Every woman is a genius creatrix, as long as she has access to her deepest intuition.

Who knew that the gorgeously, deliciously moving body of a woman gives her access to her strength, power and vibrant truth?  Sheila Kelley, that's who.

Read on, and meet my inspiring Sister Revolutionary . . .

Fluff of the Month: Dance Break

Ruth BarronThe dance break is a tool that we use in the School of Womanly Arts Mastery Program to help a woman celebrate herself.

A woman's body LOVES to move. You may not. Guess what? This practice is especially for you. The dance break acts like a reset button, breaking the energy of your doldrums and reorienting you back to pleasure.

The recipe is simple: You, and a willingness to groove.

SG Ruth Barron, DJ to the Pleasure Revolution, has put together a top ten list of Dance Break tunes to get you started.

Stand up, Sister Goddess, Let the celebration begin!

Ask Mama

Ask MamaDear Mama,

I have this strange habit. I can never let a guy pay for me. I guess my Mom raised me to be independent or something. Whenever I go on a date with a new guy, I always have to split the check. Or pay the whole thing myself. Is this OK? By the way, I have never had a real boyfriend, and I am 28 years old.

Signed,
Controlling the Cash

Dear Controlling the Cash,

You are a genius for noticing that there is a definite connection between your controlling the cash, and keeping the men at arms length. Why? Because men really enjoy making us happy.

Are you up for a little experiment?

Sister Goddess Book Club: Holly Would Dream by SG Karen Quinn

Mama GenaReview by Newsletter Goddess, Sheila Hay

When Sister Goddess Karen Quinn gave me a copy of her new book, Holly Would Dream, I didn't have the heart to tell her that I hadn't finished a novel in years.  I threw it into the suitcase at the last minute as we were packing for our family vacation extravaganza, with a faint "maybe . . . "

Not only did I read the novel--start to finish!--but I loved and savored every last delicious drop.  Sister Goddesses, this book is AMAZING!  It is pure pleasure packed into 400 or so pages!

Read on for the full review, SG Karen's Book tour dates and a special SWA contest.
